What BlocTime collects

BlocTime is built as an on-device app. It creates and stores information as you use it, and that information lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone — inside an App Group shared only between BlocTime and its blocking extension.

Created and stored on your device

• Bloc selections. The apps, websites, and categories you choose to block during a session.
• Session data. Start and end times, durations, whether you finished or stopped early, and the totals shown on your History and Stats screens.
• Plans. Projects created by the AI Project Planner, including tasks, day breakdowns, and estimated times.
• Settings. Preferred durations, music choices, and notification preferences.

None of this is uploaded to a BlocTime server. There is no BlocTime account, and no sign-up.

If you turn on iCloud

If your device has iCloud backup or app sync enabled, this data may be backed up to your own iCloud account under Apple's terms. It stays yours; we have no access to it.

How BlocTime uses Screen Time permission

Blocking apps on iOS requires Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls). When you grant it, iOS lets BlocTime shield the apps you select for the length of a session, and nothing more.

The permission is used for three things: shielding your selected apps during a bloc, showing the "Time to Focus" screen when you tap a blocked app, and lifting the shield when the session ends. Screen Time data is never transmitted off your device.

You can revoke this at any time in Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access. Blocking stops working; the rest of the app keeps running.

Calendar access

Calendar access is optional. If you grant it, BlocTime reads your events so it can suggest open windows for focus sessions and avoid scheduling blocs on top of meetings. If you ask it to, BlocTime can also write a session to your calendar as an event.

• Event titles and times are read on your device, in the moment, to place sessions.
• Calendar contents are not copied to our storage and are not sent to any server, including the AI planner.
• Declining calendar access only disables scheduling suggestions.

Revoke it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

AI Project Planner and OpenAI

The AI Project Planner is the one feature that sends anything off your phone, and only when you tap Create.

What gets sent

• The goal or project description you type.
• The parameters you set for the plan, such as session length and number of days.

What does not get sent

• Your blocked app list, session history, or stats.
• Your calendar events.
• Any device identifier, name, or email address.

The request goes to OpenAI, which processes it and returns the plan. OpenAI acts as our processor for that request and, under its API terms, does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. OpenAI may retain requests for a limited period for abuse monitoring, subject to its own policies — see OpenAI's privacy policy. Returned plans are stored on your device.

You can skip the feature entirely. Every other part of BlocTime works without it.

Music access

Focus Music plays audio from your own library. If you grant media access, BlocTime reads your songs and playlists so you can pick one for a session and shows how long it runs against your bloc. Listening data is not collected, profiled, or shared. Decline it and BlocTime runs your sessions in silence.

Diagnostics and analytics

BlocTime does not use advertising SDKs, third-party trackers, or cross-app tracking, and does not ask for permission to track you.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple sends us aggregate crash and performance reports through App Store Connect. Those reports are grouped, not tied to your identity, and are used only to fix bugs. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Purchases

Any purchase or subscription in BlocTime is processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. Apple handles your payment details; we never see or store your card number. We receive a receipt confirming that a purchase is active on your device.

Your rights and choices

Delete your data

Because your data is stored on your device, you control it directly. Use Settings → Reset All Data inside BlocTime to erase sessions, plans, and preferences, or delete the app to remove everything at once. Deletion is immediate and permanent — we hold no copy to restore.

Opt out

• Turn off Screen Time access to stop blocking.
• Turn off calendar or media access in iOS Settings.
• Simply don't use the AI Project Planner, and nothing leaves your phone.

If you're in the EU, UK, California, or a similar jurisdiction

You have rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we run no targeted advertising. Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis is your consent for the permissions above and our legitimate interest in fixing crashes and providing the app. Most requests you can complete yourself in seconds; for anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

BlocTime is intended for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app — realistically, only by typing it into the AI planner — email us and we'll delete it. Parents managing a child's device through Family Sharing should review Apple's Screen Time settings alongside this policy.

Changes to this policy

If BlocTime starts collecting something new, this page changes first, and the version stamp at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use BlocTime after an update means you accept the revised policy.
